Image Credit: Washington State Patrol A big rig operator from Mexico has been charged following a multi-vehicle accident in the sanctuary state of Washington this week, authorities say.
The harrowing incident unfolded just before 7:30 a.m. on Thursday morning in Thurston County.
Juan Hernandez-Santos, 40, reportedly lost control of the car hauler he was driving, rear-ended a school bus that had slowed for traffic, and triggered a pileup involving six other vehicles.
“Looks like the cause of this collision is ‘speeds too fast for conditions’ which caused the semi truck to lose control and jack knife,” stated Washington State Patrol Trooper Kameron Watts.
Thankfully, there were no children on the bus at the time.
Four people were reportedly hospitalized with minor injuries.
“The gentleman did not have a commercial driver’s license for either Mexico, which is his nation of origin, nor the United States or the state of Washington,” WSP spokesman Chris Loftis told The Center Square.
“He was booked in the Thurston County Jail for violation of RCW 46.25.050, which is the regulation requiring a commercial driver’s license.”
Loftis told the outlet he could not confirm if Hernandez-Santos was in the U.S. legally.
“We don’t participate in immigration enforcement,” he said.
“We don’t record or share legal status unless it is part of a criminal investigation of a Washington state crime.”
The company operating the rig Hernandez-Santos was driving is based in California, according to WSP.
On Friday, Hernandez-Santos was released from Thurston County Jail on personal recognizance.
Foreign truck drivers are wreaking havoc on U.S. highways, as we frequently report.
Last month, newlyweds William Micah Carter and Jennifer Lynn Lower were killed when Rajinder Kumar jackknifed his tractor-trailer across a highway in Deschutes County, OR.
Kumar, an illegal alien from India who was released into the U.S. by the Biden regime, was charged with two counts of criminally negligent homicide and one count of recklessly endangering.
Illegal alien drivers continue to destroy American lives on a near-daily basis.
