In June, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) surged assets to Southern California and began targeting “worst of the worst” foreign criminals in the sanctuary state.
Facing significant political opposition from California officials and violent interference from open borders militants and illegal aliens on the ground, U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are continuing to root out dangerous illegals in the City of Angels.
“We are doing what the sanctuary state of California and city of Los Angeles refused to do-ridding the greater Los Angeles area of murderers, drug dealers, sexual predators, and other violent criminals who are here illegally,” stated USBP Commander Gregory Bovino, who spearheaded the California operation before moving on to other sanctuary jurisdictions across the U.S.
“And don’t be mistaken… We are not resting on our laurels; we are NOT stopping at this milestone. This city is still hiding criminal illegal aliens so we are going to keep finding and arresting them… all to make this community and our country safer for those who are here legally.”
DHS just released information about some of the worst criminals who have been taken off the streets, including:
- Alireza Hashemi, Iran. Convictions for rape, aggravated assault, domestic violence, burglary, DUI.
- Andres Velasquez-Ocampo, Mexico. Convictions for armed carjacking, vehicle theft.
- Juan Carlos Tamayo, Mexico. Convictions for homicide, conspiracy to commit homicide, multiple counts of attempted murder.
- Ambartsoum Pogosium, Armenia. Convictions for homicide, kidnapping, fraud, burglary, larceny.
- Rene Reyes-Miranda, Cuba. Convictions for child sex crimes, robbery, burglary, larceny.
- Yonic Telles-Sosa, Mexico. Convictions for child sex crimes, robbery. Deported five times.
- Mohamed Chekchekani, Kenya. Convictions for facilitating interstate commerce in aid of a racketeering enterprise, larceny, stolen property, drug possession.
“Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass failed the people of California. They let these criminals roam free. Thanks to our brave law enforcement, California is safer with these thugs off their streets,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
“Instead of thanking our law enforcement for removing criminals from their communities, Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass repeatedly demonized our brave law enforcement during these operations.”
