A California man says his support for President Donald Trump hasn’t wavered — even though his illegal alien wife from Iran was recently detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“Trump is not trying to do anything bad,” Arthu Sahakyan said. “We understand what he’s doing. He wants the best for the country.”
On Monday, Sahakyan’s wife, Arpineh Masihi, kissed their four children goodbye as she was picked up by federal agents outside their home in Diamond Bar.
FoxLA.com reports Masihi’s green card was recently revoked compromising her immigration status:
Sahakyan says his wife was born in Iran and came to the United States when she was 3 years old as a refugee. Then, roughly 15 years ago, her green card was revoked over a conviction related to theft. While Sahakyan says it was for “misdemeanor stuff,” they’ve been going through the legal process ever since to try and regain her citizenship.
While Masihi was told her immigration status was “fine” back in April, the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities last month may have catalyzed an immigration sweep of Iranian nationals following rumors of potential Iranian sleeper cells seeking retaliation.
“Federal sources tell Fox News that more than 130 Iranian nationals were detained in the United States last week,” FoxLA.com reported.
Sahakyan, who’s photographed wearing a MAGA hat, says he has no problem with Trump vetting Iranians.
“I’m very for [the United States vetting] Iranian nationals because of the sleeper cells,” said Sahakyan. “I think it will resolve a lot of issues because we’ll know exactly who’s in here for what reasons, even though I miss [my wife] dearly. I think we could have a faster process [where they determine] she’s not a radical, or tied to the crazies, let her out.”
Sahakyan “and his family are proud President Trump supporters,” notes FoxLA, and “He believes Trump is trying to make the country safer through immigration enforcement efforts,” but he admits his opinion has been “somewhat” impacted “just because I’m going through it.”
“I’m just trying to make the best of it. I don’t want any families to go through this. If they are, I apologize for what they’re going through because it’s hard.”
“I was very selfish before, but what I see now is there’s a reason for [this immigration enforcement],” he said.

In spite of his current ordeal, Sahakyan has refused to remove his “Trump 2024” flag, which friends have asked him about.
“I’m still supporting [Trump],” he said. “Even though my friends say take the flag down, you’re going through a lot. I’m like, ‘No. The flag stands.'”
“When election time was here I had a full three, or four flags out.”
Asked, “any regrets on your vote?” Sahakyan responded, “None. I still support him.”
