(LifeSiteNews) — In the early morning hours of Friday, October 10, masked figures were caught on video at the UK’s Brighton Centre on Kings Road, smashing windows and spray-painting the walls. A women’s rights conference, put on by the feminist group FiLiA described by the BBC as “a three-day event billed as one of the largest grassroots feminist gatherings in Europe,” was scheduled to be held there. The left-wing feminist event featured 250 speakers, and 2,400 attendees were expected to attend.
Filia had previously requested protection for the conference but had been denied.
Police are investigating the crimes, but the culprits have already come forward. Trans activists from the group “Bash Back,” which says it is a “trans-led direct-action group,” claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement published online. Bash Back claimed that they had targeted the conference because it promoted “some of the most vicious transphobia in pop politics,” and stated that the attack was just the beginning.

Bash Back cited “hate groups” such as Transgender Trend, which exposes gender ideology; LGBT Alliance, which seeks to evict trans activists from the LGBT movement; and the previous attendance at the conference of J.K. Rowling, one of the transgender movement’s most prominent antagonists.
The attack by extremist trans activists once again highlights the ongoing civil war within the progressive left-over gender ideology. The targeted conference included talks on “anti-racism, male violence, political organising, lesbian lives, migration and class.” FiLiA event organizers said in a statement that “It is shocking and saddening that a conference for women to discuss domestic abuse, sexual violence and lesbian safety has been met with smashed windows, graffiti, and intimidation.”
FiLiA CEO Lisa-Marie Taylor emphasized, “The activities of a small, violent minority will not diminish the spirit of sisterhood and solidarity which FiLiA embodies.”
It may be “saddening” that trans extremists are once again resorting to violence, but it is certainly not shocking. For the past decade, the trans movement has relied on a two-pronged approach to assert their agenda: state enforcement (via censorship, arrests, and prosecution of those who publicly disagree with their ideology), and street-level violence (which has often been directed at feminist activists and events). The vandalism in Brighton this weekend is simply another example of that modus operandi.
Trans activists spearheaded a wave of vandalism against Tesla after Elon Musk publicly opposed transgender ideology. A Tesla arson suspect was actually released after the defense lawyer successfully argued that detention would disrupt the offender’s sex change “treatments.” One 42-year-old trans Tesla vandal still lived with his mother and called himself “baby.”
In July, trans activists vandalized a 300-year-old mausoleum in Buckinghamshire, UK, by spray-painting the phrase “trans rights” on the side of it. Authorities said that it would cost thousands of pounds to repair the Dashwood Mausoleum; James Parker, a land agent, noted that the “site holds deep personal and historical significance not only to the estate, but to others with loved ones buried nearby. Many feel this as a personal violation of a sacred space.”
That was no doubt the intent; trans activists see nothing as sacred. In April, seven statues in Parliament Square were damaged by trans activists, who spray-painted statues of former South African prime minister Jan Smuts, Nelson Mandela, Winston Churchill, and Millicent Fawcett with phrases such as “trans rights are human rights.” Specialists were required to undo the damage, and police treated the vandalism as criminal. Much of the damage was done at a transgender rally held in broad daylight.
Thus, organizations like “Bash Back” are no doubt serious when they state that the smashed windows and vandalism are just the beginning. They believe that laws reaffirming the sex binary upon which Western civilization is organized are tantamount to a “genocide.” If that is the case, vandalism — and indeed, domestic terrorism — are no doubt justified in their minds. Authorities will have to crack down or the situation will only escalate further.
