Image Credit: CBP More than 40 suspected illegal aliens from a variety of countries were taken into custody during a significant stash house raid near the southern border in Texas.
Customs and Border Protection released photographs and information about the bust, which unfolded on Dec. 1 in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV).
U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) agents from RGV Sector, working in collaboration with the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Department of Public Safety, conducted a ‘knock and talk’ at a trailer home in Mission.
After gaining entry, authorities encountered 43 foreign nationals hiding inside the tiny residence in “substandard and unsanitary conditions,” according to CBP.
They were identified as residents of Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Colombia, Peru, El Salvador, and Ecuador, and are all believed to be in the U.S. illegally.
Photos indicate most of the aliens were adult males.
It is unclear if any suspects involved in the smuggling operation were also arrested.
The case is being investigated by USBP.
Illegal border crossings have plunged to historic lows under the Trump administration.
