A dangerous criminal with an active warrant and a child in his vehicle was arrested for attacking U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) agents in California this week, authorities say.

The disturbing incident unfolded in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

USBP was carrying out targeted enforcement operations near a Home Depot in Cypress Park when a man exited his vehicle brandishing a hammer in a “threatening manner” and began yelling at agents, according to a criminal complaint reviewed by the L.A. Times.

The man then reportedly stashed the hammer in his trunk and proceeded to throw several rocks at agents.

Agents used their vehicles to surround the suspect, at which point he reportedly told them his daughter was in his car.

“As a crowd began to gather, federal agents decided to relocate Quinonez and his daughter to another location so as to keep them together. But as an agent was about to place Quinonez on the passenger side of his SUV, he allegedly noticed a handgun wrapped in a blue bandana,” the Times reports.

“Soon after, the agents decided to drive Quinonez and his daughter separately to another location, where agents determined that the handgun was loaded with five rounds of ammunition, according to the [complaint].”

Dennis Quinonez, 32, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of domestic violence, according to U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli.

Authorities discovered Quinonez had an active warrant for property damage at the time of his arrest.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin responded to L.A. Times reporter Brittny Mejia’s deceptive summary of the incident on X.

“Oh ffs sake, Brittny. This U.S. citizen left his own child unattended in a car and proceeded to attack law enforcement as the were conducting an operation—he exited his car wielding a hammer and threw rocks at law enforcement as he abandoned his child,” McLaughlin explained.

“Law enforcement rightly looked over the child until they were in the safe custody of a guardian.”

Illegal aliens and radical leftists become increasingly brazen in their resistance to immigration law enforcement.
