The incident took place on Sunday at around 1.15 pm ET, when the plane entered a temporary flight restriction zone near the estate.
Fighter jets dispensed flares in response to get the pilot’s attention.
The pilots then escorted the plane safely out of the restricted area.
“NORAD employs a layered defense network of radars, satellites, and fighter aircraft to identify and respond to potential threats,” it said.
No details have been given about where the aircraft was from or where it was headed. It’s also unclear whether President Trump was at Mar-a-Lago at the time.
NORAD reported dozens of similar incidents around Mar-a-Lago last year.
In November, NORAD said it had responded to “over 40 tracks of interest” violating the temporary airspace restrictions around the West Palm Beach resort since Trump returned to office.
On 21 December 2025, F-16 jets were forced to perform a “headbutt” maneuver—flying directly in front of a plane to get the pilot’s attention—after a civilian aircraft entered restricted airspace. President Trump was due to be in residence at Mar-a-Lago for his annual Christmas and New Year visit.
