The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) just announced that a “Batavia Township man” has been indicted by a grand jury on 32 counts of first-degree felony rape, along with one count of gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony.
On Mar. 7, staff at Clermont Mercy Hospital alerted CCSO and Clermont County Child Protective Services that a minor in their care reported being the victim of sexual assault by an adult male.
CCSO detectives interviewed the victim and learned that two of her siblings had also allegedly been sexually assaulted by the same individual, identified as 45-year-old Samuel Ramirez.
“Each victim alleged that Ramirez sexually assaulted them between the approximate ages of nine (9) and fourteen (14),” CCSO explained in a press release.
During an interview with detectives, Ramirez reportedly denied any wrongdoing.
However, based on evidence collected, Ramirez was taken into custody and charged with two counts of rape.
Ramirez reportedly admitted that he is in the U.S. illegally and CCSO notified the Department of Homeland Security, who said they had no documented interactions with the Guatemalan, indicating he may have slipped into the U.S. undetected at an unknown location and date.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged a detainer against the Guatemalan, who is currently being held in Clermont County Jail.
He is expected to appear in court on Mar. 18 for his arraignment on the new charges.
