A South American ‘migrant’ has been arrested by federal authorities after he was set loose in Tennessee despite a shocking criminal history.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) just announced the apprehension of Luis Meza-Olivera, a criminal alien from Peru.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was alerted about the Peruvian’s release thanks to a “tip from a school official who warned officers that Meza-Olivera’s daughter told school officials her father was being released and she feared that he would kill her mother.”
Meza-Olivera has racked up convictions for DUI in California and aggravated kidnapping, arson, and aggravated assault in Tennessee.
He also has prior charges in Tennessee for attempted first-degree murder and vandalism, as well as willful cruelty to a child in California.
In 2011, Meza-Olivera “locked a woman in a bathroom and lit a fire outside of it while she was unable to open the door to escape,” DHS says.
In 2015, the Washington County (TN) Sheriff’s Office rescued a woman who had reportedly been “hogtied” by Meza-Olivera and locked in a bedroom with a rope around her neck.
The victim’s 5-year-old son called 911 to reporte that he was in locked in a closet and his mother was in danger, according to court documents.
Meza-Olivera entered the U.S. in 2002 on a B-2 tourist visa but became a lawful permanent resident in 2010.
“Luis Meza-Olivera is a monster whose daughter feared he would kill her mother. This criminal alien from Peru should NOT be loose on American streets,” said DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.
“Thanks to a school official who left a tip for ICE, this individual is now in ICE custody and will enter removal proceedings. Meza-Olivera’s criminal history makes him eligible for removal.
