Illegal crossings at the U.S. southwest border have already dropped to the lowest levels in recorded history – and are falling even further after pro-invasion riots in California garnered international attention.
On Thursday, U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) Chief Michael Banks announced that agents apprehended just 5,414 illegal crossers during the first three weeks of June – down from 9,577 over the same span in May.
Additionally, known ‘gotaways’ have fallen even more dramatically: 986 in June versus 2,123 in May.
USBP is on pace for fewer than 7,400 apprehensions for the entire month – a new historic low.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) attributes this month’s relative plunge to a recent show of force in the sanctuary state of California.
“Secretary Noem is delivering on President Trump’s promise to secure the border by removing murderers, pedophiles, and drug traffickers from Los Angeles,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated on Tuesday.
“In less than a month since we started LA enforcement operations, apprehensions and gotaways at the Southern border halved. The world is hearing our message: If you come here illegally, we will find you, arrest you, and deport you. We will not be deterred by the rioters and politicians in our mission to secure America and its border. Migrants are turning back because they know the reality is they will ultimately leave in handcuffs.”
The revelation comes on the heels of stunning news that zero illegal aliens were released into the U.S. last month – down from more than 62,000 in May of 2024.
“We will not back down. We will not be deterred. If you enter illegally, you will leave in handcuffs,” Chief Banks vowed on Thursday.
