Footage racking up millions of views online this week shows the moment 16-year-old Arnoldo Bazan and his father Arnulfo Bazan were apprehended by ICE agents in Houston, Texas.

Liberal social media pages and mainstream media sites decried the detainments by harping on the fact that the teen is an American citizen while leaving out other key aspects of the situation.

Cesar Espinosa, the executive director of Houston civil rights organization FIEL, held a press conference alongside Arnoldo on Monday, telling news cameras, “For all of those people who are saying this does not happen to U.S. citizens, have the courage and the guts to tell that to Arnoldo, in his face, ‘cuz it happened to him.”

Espinosa then repeated the message in Spanish.

While Democrats and mainstream media outlets use the video and story to push anti-ICE propaganda, such as claiming the teen “was beaten, choked and subjected to racial slurs when masked officers chased him and his father in an early-morning immigration-enforcement action,” the facts paint a different picture.

For one, Arnoldo was merely detained and was not deported, so Espinosa was intentionally misleading people by saying “it happened to him.”

What really happened is ICE agents pulled over the Espinosas’ car while they were on the way to take Arnoldo to school, and the pair refused to roll down the windows for officers.

When ICE began trying to open the vehicle’s doors and started banging on the windows, Arnoldo said, “Me and my dad went to fight-or-flight mode and we just backed away.”

The teen admitted he and his father fled the scene and were eventually stopped by other law enforcement vehicles, at which point they ditched the car and ran into a nearby restaurant-supply store.

Agents chased the duo and tackled them inside the store, with the teen saying he “ran towards” his dad when he saw the feds on top of him.

“I saw they started choking him, kicking him, punching him,” Arnoldo claimed. “It’s when I reacted, I just ran to my dad and (another agent) grabbed my shirt. I didn’t hit nobody. I didn’t do nothing to nobody. I was just standing there recording on my phone. And they took my phone. Then that’s when they tackled me. I said I was underage, the dude started choking me more.”

He also alleged agents called him and his dad a racial slur and a “border hopper.”

It turns out Arnulfo Bazan was previously deported in 2000 and was convicted of driving while intoxicated in 2015.

Bazan served his time for the DUI, but being previously deported and having a felony conviction made him eligible for expedited removal.
