House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) joined “Face The Nation” on CBS News over the weekend where he was asked about his party’s hypocrisy regarding election denial and gerrymandering.

CBS host Margaret Brennan quoted Jeffries as previously saying, “Democrats, there are no election deniers on our side of the aisle,” and pointed out he now frequently uses the term “rigged election” when discussing the upcoming 2026 midterms.
“Democrats were appalled when President Trump used language like that. How do you justify using that now? Doesn’t that undermine faith for voters you need to show up?” she asked.
Jeffries argued that he’s using the term in reference to “Donald Trump’s unprecedented effort to gerrymander congressional maps in a partisan fashion all across the country in order to rig the midterm elections and deny the ability of the American people to actually decide who should be in the majority as it relates to the House of Representatives.”
Pushing back against the response, Brennan asked, “You know Democrats are also going through gerrymandering and redistricting?”
“No, no, no,” Jeffries chimed in. “Democrats are going to push back aggressively to make sure we have fair maps across the country, not partisan gerrymandering, which Republicans have initiated in state after state after state.”
High-profile Democrats such as journalist Aaron Rupar and Democrat commentator (formerly a Hillary Clinton campaign staffer) Kaivan Shroff freaked out over Brennan doing her job by holding the politician’s feet to the fire.
“Get a load of this line of questioning from CBS’s Margaret Brennan to Hakeem Jeffries aimed at bothsidesing election denial and gerrymandering,” wrote Rupar.
Shroff called the clip “scary,” writing, “After Bari Weiss’s takeover of CBS, Margaret Brennan sounds like a Newsmax host in this interview with Hakeem Jeffries.”
Journalist Bari Weiss did not “take over” CBS, but was instead named the editor-in-chief of CBS News after her media company The Free Press was purchased by CBS parent company Paramount earlier this month.
Popular leftist 𝕏 account @CalltoActivism told its over one million followers that Brennan was pushing “both sides bullshit.”
Dozens of leftist accounts also expressed anger at the questioning, saying they’re no longer watching CBS News and suggesting Brennan is looking for a promotion.
Regarding the subject of gerrymandering, Brennan was absolutely correct to point out that several Democrat states have gerrymandered their districts to the point that they don’t have a single Republican representative despite being home to millions of Republican voters.

Even establishment Republicans like actor and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger are calling out Democrat lies about gerrymandering, telling CNN last week that the left will always “find an excuse” to manipulate voting districts in their favor.
The fact is that Democrats are used to the media covering for their lies and helping push their false narratives, which is causing them to freak out when journalists actually pushes back in the slightest way.
