According to police sources, the alleged incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Monday in the city’s Sector Sur neighborhood, when two men reportedly tried to abduct a minor against her will. Neighbors who witnessed the scene intervened and managed to stop the attempted kidnapping before alerting the National Police, who quickly arrived and arrested the suspects nearby.
No Spanish media outlets have provided further information about the two suspects. However, images circulating online, including from the account Visegrad24, claim to show the two suspects and describe them as “North African migrants,” though authorities have not confirmed their identities or nationalities.
The Córdoba judicial authority has now agreed to release the two men on charges while the investigation continues. Provincial government deputy Ana López told reporters that the National Police “continue to work on the case,” noting that statements have been taken from the two suspects and that “various investigations” are underway.
The Córdoba case follows a similar incident reported in Bologna, Italy, over the weekend. There, a 17-year-old Gambian minor was arrested after allegedly attempting to kidnap a newborn from a stroller on Via Carracci, near the city’s main high-speed train station.
According to Corriere della Sera, the baby’s parents and bystanders intervened immediately, preventing the abduction. The suspect was later apprehended by police and now faces charges of attempted kidnapping and resisting a public official.
