Nigel Farage’s recent comments on transgender prisoners have lit a powder keg within his Reform UK party, exposing deep rifts and sparking a fierce backlash from party members and allies.

Speaking at a press conference this week, the Brexit architect suggested decisions on housing trans ‘women’ in female prisons should be based on “risk assessment,” a stance that has been met with outrage and disbelief.

Tommy Robinson, a vocal critic, didn’t hold back.

“So Farage now supports men in women’s prisons,” he tweeted, accusing the Reform UK leader of betraying core values. “Appeases Islam. Doesn’t care about us being replaced. And doesn’t want to mass deport illegal immigrants. How is this an opposition?”

Ben Habib, founder of Advance UK, distanced himself from Farage’s remarks.

“There is absolutely no way any men should be in women’s prisons,” he stated.

Rupert Lowe, a former Reform UK MP, was equally scathing.

“In no sane society would a violent male offender be placed in a women’s prison…Yet here we are” he wrote.

Lowe’s frustration boiled over in another post, in which he declared, “There is no need for ‘risk assessment’ on putting men in women’s prison, as Farage states. There is a need for a total ban on ALL men being placed in women’s prisons or private spaces. It’s not complicated. Have some courage. Take a stand. NO MEN in women-only spaces.”

Robert Jenrick, a prominent Conservative, weighed in with a blunt rejection: “Errr… No. Men belong in men’s prisons. End of.”

His words echoed the sentiment of many who see Farage’s position as a dangerous compromise.

The controversy has thrust Reform UK’s internal divisions into the spotlight, with accusations of betrayal and a lack of backbone dominating the discourse.

Farage’s attempt to navigate the complex issue of transgender prisoners has instead ignited a firestorm, leaving many to question the party’s future direction.

As the dust settles, one thing is clear: Reform UK’s stance on transgender prisoners is not just a policy debate — it’s a battle for the soul of the party.
