A circuit court judge asked O’Keefe Media Group founder James O’Keefe to relinquish his firearms Wednesday following a hearing over a temporary restraining order (TRO) filed against him by a former Project Veritas board member.

O’Keefe appeared in court Wednesday after footage shot Tuesday showed a sheriff’s deputy serving him a restraining order during a live report, stemming from a previous exposé on ex-Project Veritas board member Matthew Tyrmand after he made death threats against O’Keefe.

“Just got out of court in Miami. The Judge extended the temporary restraining order until May 11th. There will be a ruling then,” O’Keefe wrote on X Wednesday, adding, “The court is now asking me to surrender my firearms. See documents below.”

Included in court forms given to O’Keefe was a sworn statement on the possession of firearms, ammunition and/or a concealed weapons permit, asking the quantity and types of firearms he possesses and whether they’ve been sold or surrendered to police.

“We are filing an emergency interlocutory appeal today,” O’Keefe indicated.

“Prior restraint against a newsroom is unconstitutional. Near v Minnesota. NYT v United States. This is a violation of our 1st and 2nd amendment rights. We are filing an anti-SLAAP, seeking attorneys fees and will appeal all the way, if necessary.”

“This is an extraordinary series of events. This is not an April Fools joke,” he added.

Tyrmand was the subject of an OMG sting op last month, after which O’Keefe confronted him at a restaurant asking why he’d made death threats towards him.

On Tuesday, O’Keefe warned of a “constitutional crisis” as he explained to a sheriff’s deputy serving him court docs that the person making the death threats should be the one being served a TRO.

“This is insane. There’s a sheriff in my studio serving me domestic violence documents because the board member said he wanted to murder me,” O’Keefe said.

“And I know you’re just doing your job and I get it,” O’Keefe told the officer, adding, “I understand, but we’re entering a constitutional crisis in the United States. And today I’ve got a police officer bringing me to court.”
