“When it comes to the elites, you know, the corporate interests, the law firms, the universities, the media, I agree with you, Preet, it is not, it’s not going to end well for them,” Rice said during an interview with the “Stay Tuned with Preet Bharara” podcast this week.
“I think they’re now starting to realize, wait a minute, you know, this is not popular.
“Trump is not popular. What he is doing, whether on the economy and affordability or on immigration, now is not popular, and that there is likely to be a swing in the other direction, and they are going to be caught with more than their pants down.”
Rice went on to say there would be an “accountability agenda” once the Democrats return to power.
“You know, companies already are starting to hear they better preserve their documents,” Rice said.
“They better be ready for subpoenas. If they’ve done something wrong, they’ll be held accountable, and if they haven’t broken the law, good for them if they’ve done the right things, good for them. That also will be noted and remembered.
“This is not going to be an instance of, you know, forgive and forget,” she said, alleging damages that are “too severe to the American people and to our national interest.”
Rice did not single out or name any companies.
She served as the US ambassador to the UN between January 2009 and July 2013, and then as National Security Advisor. During the Biden Presidency, she was 22nd Director of the Domestic Policy Council.
President Trump and other senior Republicans, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, have repeatedly warned that the Democrats will pursue the President and his allies if they regain power.
At the beginning of January, President Trump warned that he would be impeached if the Democrats win the midterms.
A number of Democrat lawmakers have already signaled their intention to bring articles of impeachment against the President.
