Pam Bondi will still have to testify regarding the Justice Department’s botched release of the Jeffrey Epstein files despite being fired, says Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.).

“Bondi handled the Epstein Files in a terrible manner and seriously undermined President Trump,” the South Carolina congresswoman wrote on X following news of the former attorney general’s dismissal on Thursday.

“She has stonewalled every effort to hold the guilty accountable. The American people deserve an Attorney General who is transparent and delivers real accountability. We look forward to a new Attorney General who is committed to getting justice for the victims of Jeffrey Epstein.”

She later followed-up: “My subpoena still stands. When the Oversight Committee moved to subpoena Bondi, I did it by name, not by or not as the sitting Attorney General of the U.S.”

Rep. Mace, who’s running for South Carolina governor in November, last month moved to subpoena Bondi to appear before the House Oversight Committee for a closed door deposition to take place on April 14.

The congresswoman reiterated her demand Friday morning on CNN.

“I made my point very clear yesterday when I issued the subpoena that was voted on by the Oversight Committee a number of weeks ago,” Mace told CNN’s Kate Bolduan. “We did it by name and not by the title of the attorney general. So she is still compelled and required by law to come before the Oversight Committee. I’m not backing away from that or backing down from that.”

“I do believe the handling of the Epstein files was done in a very poor manner by her and her office, and there’s still question that she has answers to that are very serious and has information i believe that will be important to the committee,” she added.

Bondi was abruptly dismissed by President Trump on Thursday with no explanation given.

However, the president expressed frustration with her last September for failing to investigate and prosecute Deep State coup plotters like ex-FBI chief James Comey, Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), New York Attorney General Letitia James and more.

Bondi’s disastrous performance in February during a House Judiciary Committee hearing and her overall poor handling of the Epstein file release also likely did her no favors.
