Illegal aliens died in a car crash after a human smuggler tossed a rock at a U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) vehicle in Texas, authorities say.
On Friday, Customs and Border Protection released details about a fatal incident that unfolded on Oct. 12 in El Paso.
A USBP agent observed a group of illegal aliens entering an Infiniti sedan near the University of Texas at El Paso.
The agent reported that the suspected smuggler threw a rock at the federal vehicle while fleeing the scene.
Moments later, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers joined another USBP agent in pursuing the sedan, which temporarily escaped but crashed into a utility pole and rolled over.
Authorities encountered seven individuals, six of whom were illegally present in the U.S.
A Guatemalan male who was ejected from the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A Mexican male found inside the sedan was also killed.
Others were treated for various injuries.
An investigation is ongoing and autopsy results are expected soon.
