President Donald Trump didn’t mince words when asked about Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro’s attempts to reconcile with the US before he’s removed from power, saying Maduro knows better than to “fuck around” with the US.
“It has been reported that Maduro offered everything in his country, all the natural resources. He even recorded a message to you in English this Sunday offering mediation. What should he do?” a reporter asked Trump.
“He has offered everything,” Trump conceded. “He has offered everything. You’re right. You know why? Because he doesn’t want to f*ck around with the United States.”
The White House X account posted the clip of the exchange with the caption, “FAFO.”
Trump’s terse words come as the US has carried out several strikes on drug smuggling boats traveling to the US from Venezuela, and follows news Trump had authorized the CIA to carry out covert operations inside the country, possibly in an effort to undermine Maduro’s regime. Meanwhile, the US is flying B-52 bombers off the coast of Venezuela in a show of force.
