On Thursday President Donald Trump issued a social media post that predicts Republicans will win big in the 2026 midterm elections. Notably, Republicans have taken several steps to help reduce Democrat fraud and unfair advantages since Trump’s return to the White House, including spearheading an effort to eliminate mail-in ballots, engaging the Democrats in a battle to redistrict voter boundaries, as well as the mass deportation effort of potential Democrat voters.
The Republican Party is doing really well. Millions of people have joined us in our quest to MAKE AMERICA, GREAT AGAIN. We won every aspect of the Presidential Election and, based on the great success we are having, are poised to WIN BIG IN THE MIDTERMS. We have raised far more money than the Democrats, and are having a great time fixing all of the Country Destroying mistakes made by the Biden Administration, and watching the USA heal and prosper. The results are incredible, a record pace!!! In that light, I am thinking of recommending a National Convention to the Republican Party, just prior to the Midterms. It has never been done before. Perhaps most intriguing is that the President floated holding the Republican National Convention before the midterm elections, “I am thinking of recommending a National Convention to the Republican Party, just prior to the Midterms. It has never been done before.”
Midterm elections are often tough for the incumbent party, which typically loses roughly 25 seats in the House. In 2018 Republicans lost 41 House seats, for example.
Fox News spoke with RNC and DNC officials about the conventions:
Republican National Committee (RNC) chair Kiersten Pels, following Trump’s announcement, told Fox News Digital that the president “is leading with bold, innovative ideas to energize our Party and keep us on the path to victory.”
The president made his news the day after word that leaders at the rival Democratic National Committee (DNC) were also mulling the idea of holding a rare convention ahead of the midterms. The news was first reported by Axios.
“To showcase our tremendous candidates running up and down the ballot and harness the amazing grassroots energy we’re already seeing, several options are on the table for next year, including hosting a large-scale gathering before the midterms,” DNC spokesperson Abhi Rahman told Fox News.
Redistricting will play a large factor in the 2026 midterm elections. Texas passed a redistricting map that will likely result in an addition five Republican seats while California is working to adopt a map that eliminates five Republican seats to counter Texas.
