Lawyer Mark McCloskey has finally got back his AR-15 from police custody, five years after he and his wife made a stand to protect their property against BLM rioters.
The McCloskeys became prominent symbols of the plight and dignity of ordinary hard-working Americans who faced widespread mob violence following the death of George Floyd in the summer of 2020.
Unlike others who allowed their businesses and homes to be wrecked, the couple fought back, exercising their constitutional right to defend their homes with legally owned weapons.
“It only took 3 lawsuits, 2 trips to the Court of Appeals and 1,847 days, but I got my AR15 back!,” Mark McCloskey posted on X on Friday.
“We defended our home, were persecuted by the left, smeared by the press, and threatened with death, but we never backed down What’s missing-Patty and the Bryco (soon).”
He then posted a video of himself retrieving his confiscated weapon from police storage.
The response on social media was overwhelmingly positive, with users rushing to congratulate Mark and his wife for taking a stand and refusing to back down, at great personal cost.
“I’m happy your ordeal has finally come to a close. The good guys won,” wrote one user.
In January, the McCloskeys filed a request to have their convictions expunged, and the request was granted in July.
Republican Governor Mike Parson had already pardoned the couple after they pled guilty to misdemeanour assault in 2021.
