After beginning the day by posting about the overnight Russian air raids on Ukraine, as usual, he discussed a call he had with the European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in which he thanked her for the 90 billion Euros to “ensure the right pressure on Russia” throughout 2026 and 2027. The Dictator then discussed the peace efforts of the U.S. which he appeared to be reluctantly forced in to.
We sense that America wants to reach a final agreement and from our side there is full cooperation. Ukraine has never been, and will never be, an obstacle to peace.
We are working actively and doing everything necessary to ensure that the documents come to fruition and that they are realistic.

The key is that Russia must not sabotage this diplomacy and must take ending the war 100% seriously. If it doesn’t, then additional pressure on Russia must follow. The world has all the instruments needed to make that pressure effective and ensure that peace is achieved.

Zelensky mentioning that Ukraine will never be an obstacle to peace is notable, as he himself has held up the peace process all throughout 2025.
The Dictator was debriefed by his team on a meeting they had over the weekend in Florida with officials from Washington:
Rustem Umerov and Andrii Hnatov delivered a detailed report following their meetings with the American team. They worked productively with envoys of President Trump, and several draft documents have now been prepared. In particular, these include documents on security guarantees for Ukraine, on recovery, and on a basic framework for ending this war. The points for today have been set in such a way as to correspond to the objective of actually ending the war and the need to prevent a third Russian invasion. Each round of negotiations and meetings contributes to safeguarding Ukraine’s interests, and we will continue this work in the same constructive manner.
I am also grateful to European partners for their support and coordination. We look forward to continuing the dialogue with the United States. It is essential that diplomacy always goes hand in hand with the necessary pressure on Russia and the necessary support for Ukraine. Every Russian strike against Ukraine and the intense Russian assaults on the front line prove that Ukraine’s commitment to ending the war far exceeds Russia’s – and this must be addressed by stepping up global pressure on the aggressor. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!
Zelensky’s discussion with the EU Commission head included the topic of peace, but that was discussed in relation to Washington’s efforts and agenda. As always the Dictator discussed his immense funding as a method of applying “pressure” on Russia into the new year:
I had a very warm and good conversation with the President of the European Commission, @vonderleyen. I am grateful for all the support, assistance, and maximum engagement not only this year, but from the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Last week, the European Council adopted a decision on €90 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine for 2026–2027, and this is extremely important for us. We highly value the fact that the European Union is supporting Ukraine in such a way at this, in many respects, decisive diplomatic moment. Negotiations are currently ongoing that can fundamentally alter the situation, and it is essential to ensure the right pressure on Russia for the sake of peace – joint pressure from all partners.
We discussed the importance of supporting Ukraine’s resilience and strengthening our positions at the negotiating table. We will do everything necessary to achieve this. We also agreed on further contacts in the coming days. And although the whole world is already looking ahead to Christmas, we do not stop working for a single day toward our shared goal – achieving peace and guaranteeing security. Thank you!
The Ukrainian Dictator may be running out of hours to sign a peace plan. President Donald Trump demanded he sign a deal by Thanksgiving or be completely cut off from U.S. funding.
With that holiday passing, the deadline was extended to Christmas – likely the Western Christmas of December 25 as Zelensky won’t be able to celebrate Orthodox Christmas on January 7, as he’s a Jew.
