President Donald Trump announced Thursday afternoon that he would postpone his planned bombing campaign of Iranian energy facilities by 10 days amid ongoing negotiations.
The president made the announcement on Truth Social, saying the “talks are ongoing” contrary to media reporting and that the new extended deadline to make a deal is April 6.
As per Iranian Government request, please let this statement serve to represent that I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 P.M., Eastern Time. Talks are ongoing and, despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media, and others, they are going very well. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. The president’s comments on a prospective peace deal to end the war came just hours after he indicated at a Cabinet meeting that he may no longer be open to making a deal with Iran.

“They [Iranians] are begging to work out a deal,” Trump told reporters, adding, “I don’t know if we’ll be able to do that. I don’t know if we’re willing to do that.”
Earlier in the day, Trump criticized Iranian negotiators for “begging” to make a deal behind the scenes, while at the same time publicly downplaying the talks, with Trump warning, “They better get serious soon, before it is too late, because once that happens, there is NO TURNING BACK, and it won’t be pretty!”
Trump issued an ultimatum to Iran on Saturday warning he would “obliterate” various Iranian power plants in the country if they did not fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours.
Hours before the deadline expired on Monday, Trump declared a five-day pause amid “productive conversations.”
