FBI Director Kash Patel responds, “This case is an example of misplaced priorities and everything that went wrong with federal law enforcement in the aftermath of January 6…When a Catholic kindergarten teacher from Texas can be surveilled for more than two years simply for being in Washington, D.C., without entering the Capitol, without committing a crime, we have crossed from legitimate investigation into political overreach. That is not equal justice under the law. Senator Paul is right to demand accountability, transparency, and an end to investigations that target Americans for their beliefs or proximity rather than evidence.”

Christine Crowder attended President Trump’s rally on January 6, 2021, but never approached the U.S. Capitol. A misleading FBI tip prompted the agency to launch an investigation, leading the Department of Justice to prepare charges against her.

Investigative journalist Breanna Morello has exclusively obtained documents detailing what she describes as unconstitutional targeting of Crowder by the FBI, DOJ, and TSA.
The error became apparent when surveillance images showed a woman inside the Capitol waving and raising her left arm—movements impossible for Crowder, who is partially paralyzed on her left side following a stroke at age 26. Additionally, the woman’s clothing did not match what Crowder wore that day.

These documents were handed over to Senator Rand Paul’s office.
