US Vice President JD Vance phoned President Donald Trump to give words of support to a crowd rallying behind the re-election of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
Vance campaigned for Orban at a rally in Budapest on Tuesday, appearing on stage to support the current PM who has promoted nationalist policies, strong borders and a strong national identity.

Amid his appearance, Vance put POTUS on the phone, who relayed, “I love Hungary, and I love Viktor. He’s a fantastic man.”
“Remember this: He didn’t allow people to storm your country and invade your country like other people have, and ruin their countries frankly. He’s kept your country good. He’s kept Hungarian people in your country and he’s done a fantastic job.”
“And let me tell you: I like him a lot, but if I didn’t think he did a good job I wouldn’t be making a call like this,” Trump added.
Orban, who’s currently serving his fifth term, is facing headwinds as he seeks his sixth term, with an upcoming election this weekend determining whether he stays in office.
At a press conference following the rally, Vance credited Orban’s defense of Western Civilization, Christian civilization and Christian values as reasons for supporting him.
