The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association (MPPOA) issued a media statement on Wednesday calling out “irresponsible and reckless rhetoric from political leaders attacking law enforcement” after an anti-ICE demonstrator was shot and killed by a federal agent as she tried to run him over with her vehicle.
“The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association stands firmly behind law enforcement officers, accountability under the law, and the safety of every Minnesota community,” the group stated.
The statement continued, “Irresponsible, reckless rhetoric from political leaders attacking law enforcement has real and dangerous consequences for officers on the street. When officers are vilified, demonized, or used as political props, it fuels hostility, emboldens bad actors, and puts lives directly at risk.”
The law enforcement association then called on politicians to “stop the inflammatory language and respect the legal and investigative process.”
MPPOA describes itself as “the largest association representing rank and file municipal police officers, county deputy sheriffs, and peace officers employed in Minnesota.”
Democrat politicians such as Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz have both fueled the flames of angry anti-ICE protesters following the incident, with Frey saying on Wednesday, “To ICE, get the fuck out of Minneapolis!”
“Somebody is dead, and that’s on you… We do not want you here. Your stated reason for being in this city is to create some sort of safety and you are doing the opposite,” he added.
Meanwhile, Walz, who is facing an imminent indictment for his role in allowing around $24 billion in fraud take place in his state, called for a military uprising against President Trump’s ICE operations in Minnesota by threatening to call in the National Guard to directly fight ICE agents who are simply carrying out legal orders.
