An illegal alien threatened stab himself when his food truck was stopped by federal agents in Washington, D.C. this week.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents targeted the rolling eatery while it was on National Park Service property on Wednesday.
The operator, identified as Jimmy Anderson Ayala Mayuri, “presented a large butcher knife to federal officers and motioned that he’d harm himself,” ICE explained in a statement on the matter.
Ayala Mayuri proceeded to barricade himself inside the vehicle before being apprehended a short time later.
Ayala Mayuri has been identified as an illegal alien from Peru.
He remains in ICE custody pending a deportation decision.
Ayala Mayuri’s arrest is one of many that have taken place this week in the nation’s capital amid a sweeping crackdown on criminality and vagrancy launched by the Trump administration this week.
At least 45 criminal arrests were made overnight between Wednesday and Thursday, and 29 illegal aliens were pulled off the streets of D.C., including many with final orders of removal, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed.
“We will continue to provide the American public and the press with the numbers because we are proud of these efforts. If the Democrats had their way, there would be hundreds more criminals roaming free in the streets of the District of Columbia right now. There would be hundreds more illegal aliens who this task force has already detained and arrested, and they are now focused on deporting from our country,” Leavitt told Fox News.
“There is a huge law enforcement presence here in our nation’s capital. Just drive through the streets and you will see it, and that helps to deter crime.”
