Jagland, who was labeled “a great friend” and “Mr. Human Rights” by Epstein, was also the chair of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, served as Secretary General of the Council of Europe and led the controversial decision to award the Nobel Peace Prize to President Barack Obama in 2009 where he delivered the presentation speech for the ceremony.
Norwegian news outlets were reportedly asked to refrain from reporting on the suicide attempt, but the OSINT platform Faytuks Network and others published the story.
Regarding the investigation into his Epstein connection, The European Conservative reported, “Norwegian police said on Thursday, February 12th, they had searched properties belonging to former prime minister Thorbjørn Jagland following the launch of a corruption probe over his dealings with U.S. sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Jagland is being investigated after documents released by the U.S. Justice Department in January suggested that he and/or his family stayed or vacationed with Epstein between 2011 and 2018.”
“Pål Lønseth, chief of the specialised Økokrim economic crimes unit, said that Jagland’s residence in Oslo had been searched and that he was now formally suspected of ‘aggravated corruption,'” the outlet added.
An email from the Epstein files shows Jagland joking he’d “settle on” the notorious Little St. James Island if Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election.
Epstein responded that he could “settle even if John Kerry wins.”
Other US Justice Department files show Jagland and his family visited Epstein properties in Paris, New York, and Palm Beach, in addition to the message about visiting his island.
Epstein reportedly asked Jagland to arrange meetings with high-profile individuals such as Russian President Vladimir Putin and others.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, was arrested in the UK on February 19 on suspicion he engaged in misconduct during his time in public office by spilling state secrets to Epstein.
Former UK ambassador to the US Peter Mandelson was arrested on Monday in relation to allegedly delivering confidential information to Epstein, and Norwegian diplomats Terje Rød-Larsen and Mona Juul are now under investigation for their ties to Epstein.
Meanwhile, Epstein’s “madame” Ghislaine Maxwell remains his only accomplice to receive justice from the U.S. government.
