A 29-year-old Senegalese migrant has confessed to the killing of a 65-year-old man in France with whom he had been in a relationship.
The elderly victim was found at his home in Tours on Sunday morning with his skull crushed. An autopsy report also showed multiple blows to his back, chest, and neck, likely caused by a blunt object.
As reported by Ouest France, the Senegalese migrant had been living with the victim for several months.
The man was brought before the Tours prosecutor’s office on Monday and placed under formal investigation for murder by spouse.
Prosecutor Catherine Sorita-Minard said the suspect admitted responsibility and showed signs of cocaine use at the time of the incident. He was not previously known to the courts.
The motive remains unclear, though the suspect reportedly cited “an argument over videos of a sexual nature.” Witness interviews and psychiatric evaluations are ongoing as investigators work to reconstruct the events leading to the killing.
He is being held in pre-trial detention, but experts are expected to be called to determine his psychological state and whether or not he can be held criminally responsible for murder.
