A horrifying scene unfolded in Santiago, Chile, Thursday as a big rig transporting liquid gas crashed and erupted in flames, killing four people and injuring 17.
Traffic cameras captured the moment the driver appeared to lose control and the truck overturned, spilling liquid gas across the highway that quickly exploded into a massive inferno.
Four people, including the truck driver, were declared dead Thursday, with five people among the 17 injured in serious condition.

According to a local police chief, the driver lost control and crashed, which led to the explosion.

“One has burns covering 100 per cent of their body with imminent risk to their life,” said Santiago regional governor Claudio Orrego, according to Reuters.

The blaze was also caught by bystanders in other parts of the city, underscoring the scale of the explosion.

“The prosecutor’s office is investigating what led up to the accident,” reports Reuters, adding, “The truck was affiliated with local gas company Gasco.”
