A Venezuelan ‘migrant’ charged in the barbaric murder of a colleague in Texas may be in the U.S. illegally, according to reports.

On Sunday morning, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) was alerted that man identified as 47-year-old Juan Salinas was found dead at a residence undergoing renovations in Spring.

Salinas’ family members told authorities they went looking for him after not hearing from him for two days, Fox 26 reports.

They located his body at the home, where he had been performing carpentry work for several weeks.

Salinas’ had suffered severe trauma to his head, neck, and upper torso from an unknown object, detectives determined.

The victim’s truck was spotted a short time later in the Pasadena area.

During a vehicle stop, authorities encountered four people inside the truck — an adult female, two juveniles, and a man identified as Josue Chirino, 19.

After questioning at the HCSO Homicide Office, the female and minors were released, but Chirino was arrested and charged with murder.

Investigators believe Chirino was working alongside Salinas at the home and struck him with a sledgehammer during a dispute.

Chirino is being held without bond and Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged a detainer against him, indicating he may in the country illegally.

We reached out to the Department of Homeland Security for more information and will update this article accordingly.
