Action film star and Republican ex-California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger joined CNN over the weekend, breaking down how Democrat gerrymandering has disenfranchised Republican voters in several states.

Responding to Jake Tapper, who claimed Trump was “cooking the books” to make it more difficult for Democrats to take back control of the House, Schwarzenegger pointed out Democrat gerrymandering has left states like New Mexico and Massachusetts with “zero” Republican representation, even though about 40% of voters back the GOP.

“There has been gerrymandering going on for 200 years. There is such extreme gerrymandering going on that in a state like Massachusetts that has like 40% of the people voting for Trump – they only had zero representatives, the Republican party has zero representatives sent to the House. Think about that.

“In New Mexico,” Schwarzenegger continued, “you have 45% of the people voted for Trump and voted Republican and zero is sent to the House. Zero representatives from the Republican party.”

“So there is gerrymandering, crazy gerrymandering going on all over the country and we wanted to try to stop it in California and we did stop it in California…”

The Terminator franchise star went on to say “this whole thing about finger pointing is that they did it so therefore we should [do] it. That’s not really the way to go,” before adding districting maps should be decided by which party outperforms the other.

The “Governator” also tore into Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-Calif.) claims that his gerrymandering efforts in his state would only be temporary.

“I think when he — when they say this is temporary, there is no such thing. I mean, the longest programs are government programs that are temporary. Okay, just remember that if this is a tax program or if it is the redistricting program, anything that is temporary with government is permanent,” Schwarzenegger told Tapper.

“In the year 2032 when the independent redistricting commission is supposed to come back, they‘re going to say, ‘Wait a minute. There‘s still gerrymandering going on in Texas. There‘s still gerrymandering going on in Ohio. There‘s still gerrymandering going on in Florida. We have to continue with gerrymandering.’ This is what‘s going to happen. They will find an excuse. So therefore I don‘t think it is temporary. So that‘s total fantasy.”
