Image Credit: Brandon Bell / Staff / Getty Images A Democrat politician in the Texas House of Representatives has been dragged on social media after footage resurfaced of him calling for non-whites to “take over this country.”
State Rep. Gene Wu—who was born in China–made the comments on a left-wing podcast a year ago, but they were reposted over the weekend by X account End Wokeness, who said it showed the politician going “mask off.”
The clip begins with Wu saying, “I always tell people, the day the Latino, African American, Asian and other communities realize that they share the same oppressor, is the day we start winning.”
“Because we are the majority in this country now.
“We have the ability to take over this country and to do what is needed for everyone, and to make things fair, but the problem is our communities are divided—they’re completely divided.”
The clip received more than 7,000,000 views, 27,000 likes and nearly 5,000 responses in less than a day.
Elon Musk himself responded to the clip.
“Shame on him”, the X CEO wrote.
“Why would you immigrate to USA to be oppressed?” one user wrote.
Another user wrote that they were “SO SICK & TIRED of this race baiting marxist CR@P,” posting a political cartoon depicting a group of people at the border wall saying, “Please let us in so we can be victims of systemic racism and white supremacy!”
“Finally saying the quiet part out loud,” a third user wrote.
“This isn’t about equality, it’s about a hostile takeover. If any other group said this, they’d be forced to resign immediately.”
Wu represents Texas State House District 137, in the Houston metropolitan area. He has served in the position since 2013.
In August, he led 50 Democratic House members who fled the state to delay a vote on new congressional maps.
Wu and the other House members eventually returned and the redistricting bill was passed.
