Federal authorities have released the identity of a man arrested in connection with the brutal execution of an 18-year-old girl in the sanctuary state of Illinois.
The shocking attack unfolded just before 1:30 a.m. on Thursday in Chicago, as we previously reported.
Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old student at Loyola University Chicago, was walking with friends on the Loyola Beach Pier in hopes of seeing the Northern Lights when a masked man approached the group from behind and shot the girl in the back, witnesses say.
Gorman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
On Friday night, a 25-year-old man was arrested at a nearby apartment building after investigators reviewed surveillance footage and noted he walked with a “distinct limp.”
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has now identified the suspect as Jose Medina-Medina, an illegal alien from Venezuela who was unleashed into the U.S. by the Biden regime.
“On May 9, 2023, Medina-Medina was apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol and released into the country under the Biden administration. He was then released again on June 19, 2023, following an arrest for shoplifting in Chicago, Illinois,” DHS explained in a press release on Sunday.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer against Medina-Medina and is urging officials in the sanctuary city to not release him again.
“Sheridan Gorman had her whole life ahead of her before this cold-blooded killer decided to end her life. She was failed by open border policies and sanctuary politicians who RELEASED this illegal alien TWICE before he went on to commit this heinous murder,” said DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.
“We are calling on Governor J.B. Pritzker and Chicago’s sanctuary politicians to commit to not releasing this criminal illegal alien from jail back into American neighborhoods.”
It remains unclear if Medina-Medina has been formally charged at the time of this writing.
Sheridan Gorman, who hailed from Yorktown Heights, New York, is survived by her parents, sister, and extended family.
