Democrats in Illinois flipped their lids Saturday after the Commander-in-Chief posted an AI-generated image of himself presiding over a war in Chicago, after he’s said he plans to send the National Guard to quell violent crime in the city.
A Truth Social post shared by President Donald Trump Saturday morning stated, “I love the smell of deportations in the morning…,” adding, “Chicago about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR 🚁🚁🚁.”
The post was accompanied by an image paying homage to the 1979 war epic Apocalypse Now, featuring an AI depiction of Trump wearing Lt. Colonel Bill Kilgore’s outfit and cavalry hat, as explosions erupt behind him and military helicopters fly over the Chicago skyline.
The image sent Democrats into a frenzy, with Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson claiming Trump was threatening the city.
“The President’s threats are beneath the honor of our nation, but the reality is that he wants to occupy our city and break our Constitution,” Johnson responded to Trump on X Saturday.
“We must defend our democracy from this authoritarianism by protecting each other and protecting Chicago from Donald Trump,” he added.
Similarly, Democrat Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, rumored to be a presidential prospect in 2028, claimed the image meant Trump wanted to go to war with Chicago.
“The President of the United States is threatening to go to war with an American city,” Pritzker posted to X.
“This is not a joke. This is not normal. Donald Trump isn’t a strongman, he’s a scared man. Illinois won’t be intimidated by a wannabe dictator.”
Trump said last month Chicago’s next on his list for a major crime crackdown, stating, “When we’re ready, we’ll go in and we’ll straighten out Chicago, just like we did DC.”
Democrats are so afraid of Trump doing their jobs and making them look bad, they’d rather leave their citizens at the mercy of violent criminals.
