Image Credit: NurPhoto / Contributor / Getty While Ukraine’s Dictator Vladimir Zelensky has been entertaining the idea of a U.S.-backed peace plan for weeks, the wartime ruler has managed to focus the discussion on conceding the least amount of land possible while also working toward acquiring security guarantees to drag the U.S. into direct war with Russia should Moscow ever attack again or a false flag is run to stage an attack. Despite the White House team playing along with Zelensky’s ongoing ‘diplomacy‘, the Dictator lashed out at Washington on Monday, blaming the Trump administration officials for the continued war by stating “If these meetings had taken place earlier, the progress would have been even greater.”
Sunday morning kicked off with the Dictator announcing his bid for security guarantees during the day’s meeting with President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner.
We are preparing for a meeting with the American side. There are many important details, and we are working thoroughly on every point of every draft. The key thing is that all the steps we agree on with partners must work in practice to deliver guaranteed security. Only reliable guarantees can deliver peace. We count on our partners to continue working constructively as well.
On Monday Zelensky detailed the meeting he had, but criticized the Americans for not doing it sooner. Notably, the Americans have been regularly meeting with the Dictator for weeks.
Zelensky also stated that the American plan is not good enough and that “There are some things that, in my view, are destructive and would definitely not help us. It is important that they are no longer present in the new versions of the documents. This matters, because dignity matters.”
Yesterday we had our first meeting with Mr. Witkoff and Mr. Kushner, as well as with the U.S. team. Prior to that, our teams had held the relevant meetings. It is very important that our counterparts from the United States of America heard all the details regarding the war. If these meetings had taken place earlier, the progress would have been even greater. But I am grateful that we truly worked very well together. There are some things that, in my view, are destructive and would definitely not help us. It is important that they are no longer present in the new versions of the documents. This matters, because dignity matters.
As he has always done time and time again, after the meeting with the Americans Zelensky went to meet with the Europeans who, as they have done before, prohibited peace via bureaucratic stonewalling through diplomatic proclamations of insatiable demands.
During my meeting with Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, I expressed my gratitude for Germany’s leadership in supporting our people.
I briefed the President on our work with the United States aimed at achieving a dignified peace, reliable security guarantees, and economic recovery.
Thank you for the conversation. It is key to safeguard Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests. I appreciate Germany’s principled support for this position.
I met with President of the German Bundestag @JuliaKloeckner. We discussed mechanisms that would make it possible to use frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine. We appreciate Germany’s leadership on this issue. We also spoke separately about our joint efforts with partners to end the war, establish a dignified peace, and guarantee security.
I thank Julia Klöckner and the entire Bundestag for their support for Ukraine, in particular for allocating €11.5 billion in defense assistance for next year. This will help our warriors and our country defend against Russian aggression.
The latest announcement from the West is a reaffirmation of sending NATO-member troops to Ukraine as a consolation prize for Ukraine no longer fighting Russia.
“This would include commitments to… a European-led ‘Multinational Force Ukraine’ made up of contributions from willing nations within the framework of the Coalition of the Willing and supported by the US. It will assist in the regeneration of Ukraine’s forces, in securing Ukraine’s skies, and in supporting safer seas, including through operating inside Ukraine,” the document states.
RT detailed the Russian government’s opposition to the plan:
Moscow has repeatedly objected to the presence of NATO forces in Ukraine under any pretext and has insisted that Kiev would use any pause in fighting to rearm and regroup. Russia continues to push for a permanent peace that addresses the conflict’s root causes.
